Pootery (the “App”) is a game published by Mad Sundar LLC as part of The Madderverse. This page is the privacy notice and terms specific to Pootery, because Pootery offers optional online features that most Madderverse games do not. It supplements the Madderverse sitewide Privacy & Legal page; where Pootery’s online features are concerned, this page controls.
Who this App is for
Pootery is intended for people aged 13 and older. Unlike the fully self-contained games on The Madderverse, Pootery offers an optional account and a public, shared gallery. Because of those online and social features, the App is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account or submit to the public gallery; you can still play the game itself, which works fully offline without an account.
Privacy
We designed Pootery to collect as little as possible, and to let you play the entire game without ever signing in. We do not run ads, we do not sell data, and we do not build advertising profiles. Here is exactly what the App handles.
What you can do without giving us anything
Shaping, decorating, firing pots, and your saved progress all run on your device. Game progress — saved pots, achievements, settings — is stored locally in your browser/app storage (localStorage) and never leaves your device. Clearing the app’s data deletes it. You do not need an account for any of this.
The optional account
If you choose to sign in (to publish to the public gallery, keep a profile, or sync who made which pot), Pootery uses Supabase for authentication and offers two sign-in methods:
- Email magic link. You enter an email address; Supabase emails you a one-tap sign-in link. We use the email address only to create and restore your account. We do not email you marketing.
- Google sign-in. If you choose “Sign in with Google,” Google shares your basic account information (such as your email address and Google account identifier) with the App so we can create your account. This happens only if you pick this option, and is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
Your sign-in session (an access token) is cached in your device’s local storage so you stay signed in; it stays on your device and is refreshed transparently. Signing out clears it.
Your profile
When you have an account, Pootery stores a profile in Supabase containing a username and a display name that you choose, plus your account identifier. Your username and display name are public — they appear next to pots you publish so other players know who made them. Please do not use your real full name, email, or other personal details as your username or display name unless you are comfortable with that being public.
Public pot submissions, gallery & battles
When you choose to submit a pot to the public gallery, enter a head-to-head pot battle, or vote on an entry, the following is sent to the Supabase database so other players can see it:
- The pot you made (its shape data and the painted glaze image).
- The name you give the pot (up to 40 characters; optional).
- The byline you choose (up to 40 characters; optional, defaults to “anonymous”).
- If you are signed in, the submission is linked to your account so it shows on your profile and you can manage it. If you are not signed in, it is submitted anonymously.
- A random per-device identifier generated the first time you submit or vote. It is used only to prevent double-voting and to mark entries as “yours” on this device. It is not tied to any real-world identity. Clearing the App’s data resets it.
Anyone using the public gallery or battles can see your submitted pot, its name, its byline, and (if you are signed in) your public username/display name. Please do not put your real name, email, phone number, school, address, or any other personal information into the pot name or byline.
Keeping the gallery safe
The public gallery and pot battles let players share creations with each other. Keep submissions appropriate for a general audience: no sexually explicit imagery, no hate symbols, no threats or harassment, no personal information about yourself or others. Every gallery and battle entry has a Report button to flag inappropriate content. We review reports and remove offending submissions; serious or repeated violations may result in the account or device identifier being blocked from future submissions. Reports can also be filed through madsundar.com.
What Pootery does not do
- No advertising networks, advertising identifiers, or behavioral ad profiles.
- No third-party trackers, social-media trackers, fingerprinting, or chat widgets.
- No selling or renting of your data to anyone.
- No access to your microphone, camera, contacts, photos library, or device sensors.
- No precise location; GoatCounter records only a country-level aggregate (see below).
Analytics
Like the rest of The Madderverse, Pootery’s web pages use GoatCounter for privacy-friendly aggregate visit counts (page, browser type, screen size, referring page, country from IP). No cookies are set, no personal information is stored, and no profiles are built. GoatCounter does not share data with advertisers.
Third parties / processors
- Supabase provides authentication and hosts the database/storage for accounts, profiles, and public pot submissions, battles, and votes. It processes only the data described above, and only when you choose to sign in or use the public features. Governed by Supabase’s privacy policy.
- Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google” — provides your basic account info for sign-in.
- GoatCounter for aggregate analytics, described above.
- The web build is hosted on GitHub Pages; standard GitHub server logs may apply to the connection itself, governed by GitHub’s privacy statement.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) in transit.
Deleting your account and data
You are in control of the optional account:
- Sign out at any time to clear the session from your device.
- Clear the App’s data to remove all on-device game progress and the per-device identifier.
- Request full deletion. To delete your account and the data associated with it — your profile (username/display name), your account identifier, and pots you submitted while signed in — send a request through madsundar.com from, or referencing, the email on the account. We will verify the request and delete the account and its associated submissions from Supabase, typically within 30 days. You may also use that contact to remove a specific submission.
Children’s privacy
Pootery is intended for ages 13 and up and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 within the meaning of the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), or from children under 16 within the meaning of the EU/UK GDPR-K. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, contact us via madsundar.com and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.
Terms of Use
Your use of Pootery is also governed by the Madderverse sitewide Terms of Use — including pricing & optional in-app purchases, intellectual property, acceptable use, no-warranty, and limitation of liability. The Pootery-specific points are:
- The core game is free and works fully offline without an account. The account and public gallery are optional conveniences, not required to play.
- You are responsible for what you submit to the public gallery and battles, and for keeping submissions free of personal information and appropriate for a general audience, as described under “Keeping the gallery safe.”
- We may remove submissions and block accounts or device identifiers that violate these terms.
- Any optional paid content packs, if offered, follow the pricing terms on the sitewide Legal page (always optional, one-time purchase, clearly priced; billing via Google Play’s terms).
Changes to this page
We may update this notice from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
